Eco-Friendly Developements
Here at African Game Lodge, we endeavour to do our part for the environment as we recognise the crisis that our world currently faces.
Bearing this in mind we are now producing our own bio diesel, and therefore trying to lessen our footprint on the planet.
Ok so here comes the science talk...
Bio Diesel is a non-petroleum based diesel fuel consisting of short chain alkyl, made by transertreification of waste oil such as vegetable oil or animal fat, for the use in unmodified diesel engine vehicles. By creating our own Bio Diesel we are reduce the Carbon and Sulphur Dioxide emissions by 100%, as well as up to 20 times less carbon monoxide and more ‘free Oxygen’. Since Bio Diesel only uses waste oils or oils that are not edible, we do not partake in the use of products that result in food being removed from the food chain.
African Game Lodge uses this ‘home-made’ fuel for the use of ALL its vehicles, motors, and generators and is working on its power as heating oil.
With South Africa’s government working on ensuring that by the year 2013, renewable resources provide 4.3% of all energy used in South Africa, we see a chance for us to do our part for our country.
We are also equipped with individual solar panels for each Chalet – supplying enough sustainable energy for your stay as well as making use of a generator, which mentioned earlier, we utilize only Bio Fuel for its operation. Therefore making your stay as comfortable as possible without interfering with our fragile environment.
