For as little as R480 per person per night sharing, you can stay at African Game Lodge. We have various accommodation types to choose from, and our chalets can be rented as self-catering units or with meals provided. Where else can you get such an affordable game reserve experience and directly contribute to conservation?

2 Bedroom Thatched Chalets

Per Person Per Night on a Self Catering basis - R480

Chalets can sleep 4 adults. Single Supplement is charged. Please enquire about our special family discount offered for sharing children and 3rd/4th adult. Cots can be provided. An additional single bed can be added to the second room on request.

 

1 Bedroom Thatched Chalet / Honeymoon Chalet

Per Person Per Night on a Self Catering basis - R480

Chalets can sleep 2 adults sharing. Single Supplement is charged.

 

Leopard Bush Camp

Per Person Per Night on a full board basis - R790 or enquire about our B&B rate. Minimum 2 night stay.

The tented camp is situated close to the lodge communal faciltiies and dining area, and yet is private and secluded.  No cooking facilities are provided. Single supplement is charged. It is ideal for a Honeymoon stay.

 

Caracal Tented Camp

Per Night on a Self Catering basis - R850 - Minimum 2 nights stay, sleeps 2 adults.

If seclusion is for you, book this isolated bush camp. Tent sleeps 2 adults sharing. Single supplement is charged. Return Transfer to the camp can be booked at R120 per person if you do not have a high clearance vehicle.

 

Camping Sites

Per Person Per Night  - R110

A limited number of shaded basic Campsites with communal ablutions and washing up area. Discount for children. Please dont expect Green Lawns and Jungle Gyms - our campsite is situated on the reserve where the animals are free to walk through on their way to the river.

Overnight guests are welcome to join us when we feed the cheetahs each morning and evening and on our Cheetah Awareness Programs.

 

Chalets

Each chalet accommodates four guests and consists of two bedrooms (one with a double bed and the other with two ¾ beds),   a comfortable lounge,  kitchen equipped with a gas hob, kettle, fridge freezer, cutlery, crockery & pans for self-catering purposes, modern bathroom with bath and shower facilities, and a large porch designed to overlook the vast landscapes and passing wildlife. An additional bed can be added to the second bedroom on request to accommodate families of 5. Cots are available on request for infants. Chalets are equipped with 12v electrical supply only and cannot accommodate 220v appliances. 220v electronic equipment can be recharged in the lodge.

Full Board option includes 3 meals per day, but excludes all drinks and other activities.

Camping site

If you enjoy camping, we have a basic camp-site at African Game Lodge where you can choose your spot in nature. Our basic camping facilities include ablutions with hot showers, a communal washing up and food storage facility, and each designated campsite has its own braai facilities. The campsite is not recommended for towed caravans but is ideal for bushwackers, bush wagons and self-sufficient campers.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

1.     A 50% deposit is required within 7 days in order to confirm and secure the booking

2.     By paying the deposit you agree to the terms and conditions under which the booking was made.

3.     Full payment is required 30 days prior to arrival unless alternative arrangements have been made in writing

4.     Our cancellation policy is as follows :

a.     Cancellations are only accepted in writing

b.     A 50% cancellation fee will be levied if the cancellation is done within 21 days of the arrival date.

 

IMPORTANT INFORMATION TO NOTE

1.     The entrance gate to the reserve is open from 07h00 and closes at 19h00. Please notify us if you are arriving later than 19h00.  The gate is latched by a chain during the day with a caribiner.  Please close and latch the gate behind to keep the wind from sliding it open.

2.     There is no cell phone reception once you leave Montagu and therefore it is recommended that you phone when you leave Montagu should you anticipate a late arrival or if it is/has been raining and you are anxious about the road.

3.     The nearest Petrol Station to African Game Lodge is Montagu or Barrydale, so please make sure you have sufficient petrol for your journey. Estimate a 60km round trip.

4.     Travelling time between Montagu and African Game Lodge is approximately 30 minutes and Montagu is the nearest town to get supplies.

5.     Although part of the road is gravel, it is suitable for all types of vehicles. During our rainy season, you may be required to drive through small drifts.  Approach them slowly and drive through at a steady pace. If you are concerned about getting through, please phone us before you leave Montagu so we can monitor your expected arrival time.

6.     African Game Lodge is clearly signposted from the turnoff on the R62.

7.     In times of heavy flooding, please phone ahead of arrival so that staff from African Game Lodge can meet you at a designated pickup point.

8.     Sun hats, sun glasses, sun cream and insect repellent recommended.

9.     Towels for swimming in the pool are not provided. Please bring your own.

10.  Although the water is safe for drinking, bottled water can be brought along or purchased at reception. 

11.  Credit Card facilities are available on-site. We however regret that we do not except Diners Club.

12. There is no cell-phone reception at the reserve except for one high-spot.  WiFi is available in the lodge.

13. Guests are welcome to arrive anytime from 09h30 but your accommodation may not be available until midday. Whilst waiting to check into your accommodation, you are welcome to explore the reserve and make use of the communal facilities. If you anticipate an early arrival, please let us know and we will try our best to have your accommodation available when you arrive.  Guests are requested to vacate their accommodation by the latest 11am on the day of departure but are welcome to remain on the reserve until 17h00 and make use of the communal facilities.

 

Where to stay and What to do : African Game Lodge is a private nature reserve outside Montagu in South Africa. We offer affordable accommodation on a self-catering, B&B or Full Board basis , and outdoor nature activities such as game viewing,  hiking, cycling, mountain biking, biking, trail running and birding. As an added attraction, we have a cheetah awareness program and many species of game and wildlife on our game reserve. We are situated along Route 62 in the Cape Winelands, Western Cape.
