Can I get to African Game Lodge in my own car?

Yes, the last stretch is a gravel road but a standard passenger vehicle will get through. However, if the roads are impassable due to water damage, a representative will contact you.

 

How long will it take to get there from Montagu?

26 kilometers which should take approximately 30-45minutes. Remember to phone us when leaving Montagu if you are booking in after 19h00 or arriving before 06h30 so we can meet you at the gate.

 

Can I use my cell phone or is there any internet connectivity?

Part of the pleasure of African Game Lodge is that there is no cell phone reception, however it is possible to make calls at the lodge reception area. There is also no internet connectivity, you can really get away from it all.

 

Is there electricity at African Game Lodge?

We do not have Eskom power, and the chalets operate on Solar power.  Don't worry, you wont miss the city comforts too much, but we do have a healthy environment to look after.

 

Is there Hunting or Bow-Hunting at African Game Lodge?

No. Any form of Sport Hunting that results in the death or stress of an animal,  or any senseless killing of any creature has no place at African Game Lodge.

 

How many rooms are there in a chalet?

Each Chalet has two bedrooms; the one has a double bed and the other, two ¾ beds.  One Chalet is a 1 bedroom unit which is ideal for a romantic weekend away.

 

What cooking equipment is provided in the chalet?

There is a fully operational kitchen, (fridge, stove, kettle, pots, pans, crockery and cutlery). You would need to bring your own perishables i.e.: food, drinks, wood (we do sell wood on the premises if necessary) etc... Should you wish to check any item specifically before your stay, please contact us. Drinks can be purchased at the lodge if you prefer.  Bottled water is always recommended if you are not used to the local water supply.

 

Can I drink the water?

Safe water to drink and use will be provided.  Bottled water for drinking is always recommended if you are not used to the local water supply.  Bottled water can be brought along or purchased from the lodge.

 

What equipment is provided at the luxury tent?

There is a gas braai on the deck. There is also a communal boma (shared by both tents). Wood is also available. Should you choose to it is possible to braai at the boma. An large electric cooler box is supplied for your perishables. We also provide fresh water. Should you wish to check any item specifically before your stay, please contact us. Drinks can be purchased at the lodge before returning to your tent from the main lodge area.

 

What sort of medical assistance do you provide?

All our hospitality staff are certified in first aid and our public liability insurance supplies emergency helicopter service that will fly out to the Lodge should anyone be taken ill or seriously injured.

 

Do I need to worry about malaria?

Absolutely NOT! African Game Lodge is situated in the Little Karoo, which is a malaria free zone.  That's one of the bugz we dont want at African Game Lodge.

 

What suggested items should I bring

It does tend to depend on the season but some good safe bets are:

  • Hat
  • Loose long sleeve cotton shirts so you don't get burnt
  • Long pants
  • A warm jersey/jacket for nights (can get pretty cold)
  • Closed comfortable shoes
  • Camera
  • Binoculars
  • Swimming Pool Towel
