Wildlife Releases

Sadly, our plans to release a troop of baboons at African Game Lodge did not materialise.  In separating the troop out for release, the baboons became more habituated, and releasing a habituated troop at African Game Lodge would have been courting disaster.

Releasing animals who have been in rehabilitation for a lengthy period is a very complex process, and has to work for the animals, the environment and the people who share the land. Despite this setback, we remain committed to giving animals a second chance in the wild, and to raise awareness about the things people do which cause animals to land up in rehabilitation centres in the first place.

Activities at African Game Lodge
