Trout Fishing in the Western Cape
Word is getting around - the Western Cape is becoming an increasingly popular trout-fishing destination. If you’re keen on trout fishing and it’s been a while since you’ve made that wolly bugger fly, then pack your bags and head on down Route 62, towards Montagu.
The perfect venue for the avid fisherman is our luxury tented suites which overlook the dam, you will definitely be the early bird from this vantage point as the tents are a mere 10 meters from the shore line. A fisherman’s paradise!
Once you’ve fished at African Game Lodge, you can also take in the awe-inspiring scenery of Montagu as you wind your way to the Breede River, just 20 minutes out of town. The Breede River is a favourite destination amongst trout fishermen. It also has a healthy stock of small mouth black bass. If you like trying out different fishing spots, we suggest you stop by at the Poortjieskloofdam, which is also recognised as one of Montagu’s top trout dams.
So, if its trout fishing you want, or to look at the masses of wildlife and birds or just to absorb the mountainous country, then you should seriously consider spending time at African Game Lodge in Montagu
Please note that we do not supply fishing equipment and should you wish to take advantage of this activity, we would ask you kindly to bring your own supplies.
